A diabetes review is a set of checks done once or twice a year that catch problems while they are still small. Here is what we look at and why.
The five checks
Blood sugar over three months (HbA1c), blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney function from a blood and urine sample, and a look at your feet and eyes.
The numbers that matter
For most people an HbA1c below 53 is the target, blood pressure under 140 over 90, and a total cholesterol under 4. Your targets may differ, and we write them down.
What a good result looks like
Numbers moving in the right direction, not perfection. If something has slipped, we change one thing at a time and check again in three months.
